From Madam Thoo: It's been 4 months since my last Petscan on 31 Oct 2011. I went for my 3rd Interstitial NGPDT treatment in Dec 3-10, 2011. My current Petscan done on 28 Feb 2012 (120 days after my last scan) showed NO INCREASE in tumor size. Yeah! No spread of tumor to other parts of my body. The SUVMax for the larger tumor is stable from 8.9 to 8.4. The size remained stable at 3.2x2.2cm. However the smaller lump near my armpit (size=2.0cm x 1.2cm) increase from SUVMax 2.9 to 4.0 (more active) even though size remained constant. :-(
Alex's prognosis:
Mom has been taking a whole lot of herbal medicine in the past 4 months. This could have helped her body fight the cancer spread. Together with the whole body NGPDT treatment on the light bed, this could explain why the tumor has not metastasized (no spread).
The last 3 rounds of NGPDT seemed to have controlled further growth of the tumor. While the tumor has not reduced in size, it also did not increase in the past 120 days.
The SUVMax reading of 4 - 8.4 suggest that the tumor is still metabolic or active.
Our next steps:
We will need to attack the Tumor from inside out. Dr Lim EH, Scott Waters and Michael Cho from NGPDT recommend the next course of treatment in this manner: To inject NGPDT agent into the center of the tumors. Wait 24 hrs and Apply Interstitial NGPDT light treatment. We are planning to do this in March 2012.
